About Ladder Lab

Ladder Lab replays a ladder of cash-secured put sales on any stock or ETF’s real past option prices, 15 minutes at a time. You set the rules — how many layers, the gap between them in strike steps, where the first put sits, take profit, stop and covered calls after an assignment — and see the profit, the return, the worst drop and every trade, with costs and slippage.

A search tries hundreds of rule sets and checks each on more than one period, so a rule that only worked in a single stretch stands out. The address keeps the ticker and the rules, so a result can be shared.

Questions

What is a put ladder?

Several cash-secured puts sold at different strikes below the price — layers — so a drop is bought in steps instead of all at one price. If a put is assigned, covered calls are sold on the shares above their cost.

Are the option prices real?

Yes. The replay uses the ticker’s actual past option prices, 15 minutes at a time; where a contract did not trade, its price is estimated from its own or the nearest strike’s implied volatility.

Does a good backtest mean it will keep working?

No. The search checks rule sets on more than one period to separate luck from a rule that holds up, but selling puts can lose far more than the premium collected.

Is Ladder Lab free?

Yes. Saving the rules to a live ladder with alerts needs an account.
